Adopted!

No sooner do I start stressing about Dubby, then he's gone. Just like that. Poof.

Dubby got adopted yesterday. The organization I am fostering for has a same-day adoption policy, so if everything checks out, the dog goes home with the new family right then and there.

I got the news while I was at the vet with another chicken (Bawk Bawk, who has a yeast overgrowth in her crop, nothing serious). I finished at the vet, raced home and dropped off the chicken, and sped to the adoption site, hoping to get to say goodbye.

As I pulled into the parking lot, I saw Dubby's little tail as he was lifted into a car. The back seat was piled high with a brand new crate and tons of dog toys. I parked and raced over, but the car was already gone.

I felt like someone had just stolen my dog. The adoption counselor reassured me that the people were very nice, had asked excellent questions, and had spent a very long time playing with Dubby. I guess all I can do now is hope that the new family loves him as much as I do. That's the suckiest part of fostering; you have to have faith in the goodness of other people, or else the guilt and worry will tear you apart.

Dubby was wearing the tie Princess sent him, for the first time at an adoption site. I hadn't put it on him previously for site because I didn't want him (or his penmate) to mess it up; but he had finally grown out of all his other outfits and I felt like he needed to wear something to site. I guess it was a lucky tie!

Last night I cried into Dozer's fur for a long time. He really hates when I do that.

We're happy to hear Dubby has been adopted, but we know how you feel. We've had two fosters and we didn't give either one of them back. It's impossible not to get attached to them, isn't it?

And I see you really did name your chicken Bawk Bawk! The Space Chicken will be so pleased! (Once he gets out of INS detention of course.)

Yay for Dubby!! I'm sorry for you though. I would love to foster but I know I couldn't handle when they left. I'm so impressed with all you do.

I think seeing that tail disappear into the back seat of that car would have broke my heart , even though it's wonderful that Dubby got adopted! But! that's one less thing you need to deal with right now, right? Don't stretch yourself too thin and if you take that full time job; GET A HOUSECLEANER! That's what I do for a living and it makes me feel good to know that people who are busy working hard can come home to a clean house. And almost all are pet owners so you can imagine how much pet hair we sweep up!

Oh I'm so glad Dubby got adopted, but I'm so sorry you didn't get to say a proper goodbye to him. Hugs hugs hugs from all of us for being a guardian angel to the little cutie.

Is it okay that I'm a little bit sad? I wish they were people that would continue to blog about Dubby. I fell in love with that puppy at first sight, bald skin and all. I am happy he has a home, but sad that we won't get anymore updates about him.

We've taken on our first foster and I honestly don't know if we will be able to give her up when the time comes. We're not with an organization so (unfortunately) we have no one to answer to but ourselves and The Buddies!

Yea for Dubby's forever home. But still sad you didn't get one last hug and lick in from him. He's a great dog who surely got a great home!

Glad the little tie might have brought him some adoption luck!!
