Felanie has passed away

I am sad to say that Felanie “Pretty Girl” Thomas, TT, age 10, passed away today (February 29). Fel was a sweet, shy, gentle dog with a very big heart and lots of love to give.

Throughout the eight years Fel spent as a part of our small family, she gathered up a handful of obedience and agility class diplomas and a Temperament Tested (TT) title, but I will most remember her for the way she was able to educate and inspire the people around her. Felanie gave me a passion and a purpose in life, motivated me to get a master’s degree, and challenged me to be a more forgiving, more open-minded, more thoughtful individual.

Fel was an integral part of our family and she is dearly missed here on earth, but we are comforted by the thought that she is already romping (in a very dainty, ladylike way, of course) in doggy heaven.

For those who may wish to make a donation in Felanie’s name, please consider Pit Bull Rescue Central (http://www.pbrc.net/) or the Humane Society of Williamson County (http://www.hswc.net/).

‘Til we meet again, pretty princess…

Jennifer, Byrd, and little bro Dozer

This is my first time here(i stumbled-upon happy pit bull a few hours ago), but I feel the need to say something.

My most heartfelt condolences.

I "stumbled" on your blog while searching for some information on pit bulls. I am touched by your loss and the beautiful tribute to your friend, Felanie. Too say it gripped my heart is an understatement. I reached down and patted Riddick's (my 11mo ABT) head. Please keep up the excellent work you are doing here.

Jennifer, Byrd, and Dozer,

We are sorry to hear that Felanie is gone. She sounds like she was such a wonderful dog. We will make a donation in her memory to PBRC. Rest in peace, dear doggie.

Thank you for donating, forsythia! PBRC is a great resource for pit bull owners and rescuers. Thank you very much for supporting them. It moves me a lot to think that you did so in Felanie's memory... I feel better knowing that some good came from all this, that it wasn't all bad. I also made some donations in honor of Felanie, and I felt a great sense of peace in doing so.

Thanks to everyone for their thoughtfulness and kind words.
